NAMHE committee portfolio:

  • Treasurer
  • Research & Projects Sub Committee
  • SCUDD Liaison

"A current aim for me as a member of the NAMHE Committee is to further develop our relationship with our companion Associations (SCUDD, DanceHE); initial collaborations and work on shared campaigns are proving to be beneficial. In 2011, I coordinated the NAMHE REF Impact Conference at MMU Cheshire, which included panel members from SCUDD and more recently we have worked with SCUDD on such campaigns as the Facilitating Subject choices debate. At a time when music teaching and research remains under threat from Government announcements it is essential, where appropriate, that our companion associations come together as a critical mass to represent, not only the subject specific concerns of our members, but also the shared concerns of the wider performing arts community.

"In addition, a long-term aim for me is to set up a composition practice-as-research initiative for composer-researchers looking for support from NAMHE in research dissemination opportunities/methodologies. I am currently working with Dr Nick Fells from the University of Glasgow on setting up initial meetings to develop this project and would be very happy to receive requests for information if you have missed recent email invitations to join the Network."
